Democrat Tony Evers has been caught in a plagiarism scandal that has ignited new controversy for his Wisconsin gubernatorial campaign.
According to new reports by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Politico, he was caught “plagiarizing parts of an education budget plan that Evers submitted” as Wisconsin’s Superintendent for Public Instruction. The plan reportedly “included sections plagiarized from Wikipedia, a blog by an intern at a think tank and two other sources” with no citations. The controversy goes even further than that of Wisconsin’s previous Democrat gubernatorial nominee Mary Burke who, in 2014, was caught in a similar plagiarism controversy that severely weakened her candidacy.
Evers’ willingness to plagiarize an official government document for a budget plan – one of his most important responsibilities as Superintendent for Public Instruction – shows not just ineptness like Burke, but also failed leadership, and proves he can’t be trusted to be honest with the people of Wisconsin. Evers is not fit to serve as governor.
