In his final state of the state speech, GOP Governor Paul LePage reflected on his legacy and looked towards the future as he vowed to continue the fight to improve Maine.
The Associated Press reports, “LePage said he never imagined he’d go from living on the streets of Lewiston to living in the governor’s mansion, where, he said, he’s fought to bring Ronald Reagan-style conservative principles to a state with a long independent streak.”
LePage highlighted his successful efforts to eliminate bureaucratic red-tape, establish charter schools, cut taxes, lower energy costs and improve Maine’s infrastructure. Looking towards the future, LePage urged Maine to reinvent itself and tackle the student debt crisis.
“Put on your work boots. Our job is not done. Now is not the time to slow down,” said LePage.
