With just one week until Election Day, Ralph Northam finds himself mired in yet another controversy after the George Soros-backed Latino Victory Fund (LVF) released an outrageous ad in support of his campaign that depicted a Gillespie supporter hunting down children. Even though the ad was met with widespread condemnation, Northam embraced the ad, making it clear he had no problem with the LVF’s attack on Virginia voters. But now, Northam is even taking heat from members of his own party, as Democrat Delegate Sam Rasoul of Roanoke spoke out against the ad, saying it inspired “fear,” while another Democrat Delegate, Jeff Bourne of Richmond, later stated his agreement with Rasoul’s comments. Will Ralph Northam reconsider his embrace of the ad – or will he continue to side with this offensive and incendiary rhetoric?
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports:
“State Del. Sam Rasoul, a Roanoke Democrat who has pushed his party to avoid demonizing Trump supporters, said he disagrees with the group’s ad, ‘but the fear is real.’
‘I would rather see groups use messages to inspire action, rather than fight fear with fear,’ said Rasoul, one of only a handful of Democrats left representing largely rural western Virginia in the statehouse.”
