Democrat Laura Kelly’s been caught red-handed using state political appointees and taxpayer-funded state resources for campaign purposes. And according to a report from The Topeka Capital-Journal this morning, neither Kelly’s campaign nor the state official in question had anything to say about it. 😬

As part of an ultimately unsuccessful effort to have an RGA Kansas 2022 PAC ad criticizing Kelly taken off the air, her campaign provided an official letter dated the same day from Kansas DCF Secretary Laura Howard written to Kelly’s governor’s office Chief of Staff Will Lawrence. The move raises serious questions about how Kelly’s blurred the lines between her political operation and taxpayer-funded staff in the governor’s office and state departments. As a result, RGA Kansas filed an ethics complaint against Howard. Read more in The Topeka Capital-Journal here.

“Democrat Laura Kelly is playing politics using state staff and taxpayer-funded resources, and her campaign apparently has nothing to say for it,” said RGA spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “Unfortunately for Kelly, no matter how much she improperly uses state resources and taxpayer-funded staff to aide her political campaign, we will keep holding her accountable and voters will reject her this November.”
