Spanberger On Day One: Turn Virginia into Sanctuary State

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Abigail Spanberger revealed in an interview with Virginia Mercury that her first act as governor would be to stop state police from working alongside ICE to keep Virginia families safe and to turn Virginia into a sanctuary state for violent illegal aliens.

Thanks to Governor Glenn Younkin and Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears’ leadership, as of July 2, 2,500 criminal illegal aliens had been arrested in Virginia. And just last month, federal officers worked with local law enforcement to arrest one of the top MS-13 leaders in the entire nation. 

Spanberger has consistently prioritized illegal immigrants over the safety of Virginians: 

  • Calling for recognizing asylum of ANY individual who wants to come to the United States
  • Voting against the Laken Riley Act
  • Supporting schools being turned into housing for illegal immigrants

“Virginia families deserve to be safe in schools and communities, and it’s clear Abigail Spanberger has no interest in either. Safety is on the ballot in November and Spanberger is on the wrong side every step of the way,” said RGA Rapid Response Director Kollin Crompton. “Spanberger wants to make Virginia a Sanctuary State on day one. That’s complete nonsense. Winsome Earle-Sears will always lead with common sense: protecting Virginia families and keeping communities safe.”
