WASHINGTON, D.C. – As Aaron Ford finally makes it official that he’s entering Nevada’s gubernatorial race, the Republican Governors Association (RGA) issued the following statement:
“Aaron Ford is a weak on crime prosecutor who is more interested in protecting criminal illegal immigrants than hardworking Nevada families,” said RGA Rapid Response Director Kollin Crompton. “Ford has pushed for Nevada to be a sanctuary state, recommended that law enforcement not work with federal immigration officials, and weakened penalties for criminals pushing fentanyl on the streets. Nevada families’ safety and security will disappear if Aaron Ford ever becomes governor.”
Aaron Ford’s record:
As a state senator in 2017, Aaron Ford co-sponsored legislation that would have made Nevada a sanctuary state.
Attorney General Aaron Ford released model immigration policies, recommending that state and local law enforcement limit their cooperation with federal immigration officials.
Attorney General Aaron Ford has promised to protect the rights of illegal immigrants and he even published an official guide to navigate interacting with police or immigration officers for individuals and employers.
Attorney General Aaron Ford has a history of supporting soft-on-crime policies, including helping to craft a 2019 bill that weakened penalties for larger amounts of drug possession, including fentanyl.
Attorney General supports the thought of defunding the police.
Lately, Attorney General Aaron Ford has been complaining about rising retail theft rates. But Ford, who was previously arrested on a theft charge, supported a bill that raised the threshold of felony theft to make it harder for prosecutors to incarcerate thieves.
Since taking office, Attorney General Aaron Ford has been surrounded by corruption concerns, from conflicts of interest to repeatedly dodging records requests in a stunning lack of transparency.
Attorney General Aaron Ford spends his time serving the national resistance instead of Nevada residents by using his office resources to habitually sue the Trump administration.
Even though Attorney General Aaron Ford has a history of not fully paying his own taxes, he fought against historic tax cuts for hardworking Nevada families.
