Republican Governors Urge Congress to Fund U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and ICE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican governors sent a joint letter to Congressional Leadership supporting the swift passage of The Secure America Act (S. 2) to fund U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In part, the governors wrote:

“As Republican governors of states tasked with protecting our citizens, we write to express our strong support for swift enactment of The Secure America Act, legislation to provide sustained funding to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“Congressional Democrats have refused to fund CBP and ICE, using the brave and selfless men and women of CBP and ICE as pawns and collateral damage to their political cause. Governors will only be as successful as their federal partners, and Congressional Democrats are failing to fulfill the basic federal responsibility of funding key portions of our federal law enforcement system.”
