RGA Celebrates Scott Brown Victory in Massachusetts

Posted by admin in Press Releases on January 19th, 2010 | 11 Responses

Governor Haley Barbour, Chairman of the Republican Governors Association, today issued the following statement regarding Scott Brown’s victory in the Massachusetts U.S. Senate race:

“On behalf of all Republican governors, I extend my enthusiastic congratulations to Scott Brown and his fine campaign for a well-earned and remarkable victory in Massachusetts.

“That a Republican can win a Senate seat formerly held by Ted Kennedy for nearly five decades is a clear indicator of the resurgence of our message and the rejection of the massive lurch to the left by the Democrats in Washington and Boston. On the heels of Chris Christie’s win in New Jersey’s gubernatorial race, Scott Brown’s breakthrough in Massachusetts proves that Republican candidates can be successful throughout the Northeast and across the country this fall.

“The planned federal government takeover of the health care system was obviously a major issue in this race. Massachusetts voters – like a growing majority of Americans – have voiced their opinions of the Democrats’ plan and sent a clear message to Washington that the debate over health care reform should start over.”

Go Republicans. I did not vote for the current president, however I do believe that this is not the change that the people voted for. Friend I have spoken to voted for change NOT takeover. The health care is not the first takeover of this administration. It is vital to prevent the healt care takeover. America is starting to wake up and pay attention to what is happening in Washington. It would be quite nice if we had a non-partisan and imformed media to really get the word out on the truth about Washinton. We have really missed good old fashioned reporting and informing.
This new socially, politically correct and sensational soap-opera style of reporting is getting so so very old and not work a thing. When you are involved in a story and then see the 5 and 6pm news do the story, it is disheartening to see the twist they have made. If all this is happening locally, it is pretty easy to relate it to national news and what they might be doing to spin. Spin may be “fun” for those involved but it really does not help the county at all.

We can’t take this win for granted. I believe it was more of NO to democrats than a YES to republicans. Republican Leaders still have a long way to go before they can win the trust of the American People. PLEASE DON’T TAKE SCOTT BROWN’S WIN FOR GRANTED.

This win may have been a NO to Democrats, but it’s still a win for Republicans and America. Congratulations to Scott Brown.

I applaud and concur with Denise Wagner’s comments. I want to vote for candidates who run for office at each level of government because they support the most effective, constitutional policies for the polity, and because of the trust engendered by the credible presentation of their views and concerns. I do not want to vote for buzz words especially when they masquerade as policy positions. I do not want to be asked by my beloved GOP to vote for candidates based upon buzz words and talking points.
