Blue State Madness Bracket Challenge Narrows To Elite 8

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association announced today the winners of the third round of the Blue State Madness Bracket Challenge, an online competition where participants can learn about the destructive policies and failed leadership of Democrat governors and candidates and choose, through a series of head-to-head matchups, the Democrat that is inspiring the most Blue State Madness in 2014.

Last week, visitors to the Blue State Madness site chose from a full field of Democrat governors and candidates, shrinking the pool from 16 to 8. Madness like Governor Jerry Brown’s high taxes causing residents to leave California, Governor Dan Malloy’s job losses in Connecticut, Mike Ross’ unyielding loyalty to Nancy Pelosi in Arkansas, and Mary Burke’s penchant for not telling the truth in Wisconsin; they and four other fellow Democrats moved on to the next round.

The competition continues this week as participants have the opportunity to select from a third round of new match-ups. In the coming weeks, the field will narrow further, and ultimately, one Democrat will be chosen as the champion of the worst Blue State failed policies.

“Unlike the teams in the NCAA bracket who show why they are winning, those Democrats who have survived the Blue State Madness bracket demonstrate well why their states are losing,” said RGA Communications Director Gail Gitcho. “Voters will have a clear choice this November to abandon the Madness championed by Democrat governors and elect a Republican governor focusing on pro-growth, pro-jobs policies and put their states on the right path.”

Blue State Madness, launched last month, is a website designed to serve as a clearinghouse for news, research and insight related to Democrat governors and candidates. The site is updated regularly with new content, and as the election year progresses, Blue State Madness will present to voters an increasingly complete picture of the downward spiral a vote for a Democrat governor can spark in the states.
